Junkers Ju 52 "Iron Annie"

Everyone flight enthusiast or not, will be fascinated by the JU 52 and the way it moves along the sky. This may be also the reason that the aircraft's nick name “ Tante JU   is well known all over the world. In the US she is named “Iron Annie”. Today the original is to be seen less often airborne than it was during the 30ies except if you live close to the home airfields of the few survivors. I know of three Swiss, one French, one South African and one German Ju 52 which have been refurbished and are still flying nowadays. They may be hired or booked for sightseeing flights and are often welcomed guests during a flight event. If you also want to fly your Ju52 you are quite right. With our model kit you will be able to build your own Ju52 right away.

To be able to rebuild all the surface details but also in order to achieve a light weight structure we decided to build everything by glass fibre. All the details of the original have been rebuilt without any compromise. You will find the three different sizes of the corrugation exactly where they should be. Also the correct sizes of the metal sheets have been considered. Joints of the metal sheets are exactly where they should be, rivet rows, reinforcements and man holes have been also taken into account and have been re-built. World wide you will find no Ju 52 model of that size which is as detailed as ours. Please refer also to our attached video.

The kit consists of two handed wing panels which are the longest parts to be handled (1,70m = 68inches), a two piece fuselage fwd. and aft (joint is at the cargo door) and a removable fin and stabiliser. In addition to that you will get three dummy  engines, oil cooler, spring loaded undercarriage with the wheel pants. The wings will be attached to the fuselage by an aluminium tube. The tube’s receptacles are already installed in wings and fuselage (no difficult adjustments). Wing separation is exactly at the main landing gear. The landing gear will stay with the fuselage so it will be easy to handle on ground.

The two halves of the fuselage will be kept in place by four  tight-fit screws. This installation system is also completely done. Both halves of the stabilizer, kept in place by two screws and the fin adjusted by one screw only, may be removed fast and easy. When all the model is disassembled it can be easily stowaged in a normal sized car.

The model comes out of the mould silver painted. Only a few additional parts have to be glued or mounted in place. After you have done this you only have to add your favourite insignias, the radio and your JU 52 will be ready to get airborne. Two already prepared access doors in the lower wing surface will accept the aileron - and flap servo.

The flying performance of our Ju is identical with that of the original. The model’s low weight structure without concession to strength pays off in its slow flight abilities. Equipped with  three Laser 70 and 1 Litre (0.22 gallon) fuel  our Ju will weigh in at 18 Kg (40 pounds) that leads to a square load of 90gramms / dm² which is a usual value for a motor glider. Due to these values the model will allow very slow fly bys. Stalls with all engines running will be always controllable; she will just lower the nose to accelerate if to slow that’s all. Flying with two engines (centre and left or right) are also easy and fully to be dominated, the only difference to normal is, you should not make her too slow.

The sound of three engines is unforgettable and all together engines, model and flight performance will make you with our Ju 52 an absolute highlight at every flying field or model show. I have equipped my Ju 52 with three 160 Vee Lasers which gives you an extra kick in sound (6 cyl. at work instead of 3), and even lower RPMs during slow flights which will underscore even more the slow fly bys than the Laser 70s will do.
